New Milestone in Dual-Use Energy Solutions with the Launch of the ALENOS2 Project

By signing the contract with the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia (SiMoD) for the implementation of the research, development and innovation project ALENOS2, TECES and its partners have set a new milestone in the development of breakthrough energy solutions for both civilian and defence applications.
In the project, TECES acts as the lead partner, while Robotina assumes the role of technological integrator. ALENOS2 strengthens national development capacities, fosters cooperation between companies, research organisations and the Slovenian Armed Forces, and contributes to greater national energy independence and resilience. The project will deliver concrete products, solutions and new knowledge, enhancing Slovenia’s capabilities in the field of dual-use technologies.

ALENOS2 as a response to end user needs

On the international market, and in response to the needs of end users, we must act quickly and decisively. Projects such as ALENOS2 enable us to develop solutions that address real operational requirements. ALENOS2 provides a comprehensive solution to the challenges of interoperability, system integration, data exchange, and reliable operation in demanding environments. Through coordinated cooperation among competent Slovenian partners, we are working to fill gaps in international value chains and strengthen domestic development and technological capacities,” emphasises Matej Gajzer, Director of TECES and Chair of the SiEnE partnership.

TECES has assembled a strong consortium of Slovenian companies and research institutions. In addition to the lead partner, TECES, and Robotina as the technological integrator, the consortium includes Smartis, Code-Red, Internet Institut, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, as well as the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Informatics of the University of Maribor.

Fourteen new dual-use end products for use will be developed within the project

Within ALENOS2, fourteen new dual-use end products will be developed. The project will also establish an advanced testing and development environment that enables faster testing, validation, and industrialisation of technological solutions. Robotina acts as the lead technological integrator and a key partner in the development of an intelligent, deployable and modular solution for multi-energy supply in demanding operational settings. “In this project, we will develop the most advanced mobile and modular tactical microgrid, designed in accordance with NATO and European civil standards. It is a solution that grows with the user’s needs and provides an exceptional level of flexibility and operational readiness,” highlights Devid Palčič, Director and Owner of Robotina.

Strengthening the competitiveness of Slovenian knowledge and industry internationally

ALENOS2 builds upon the outcomes of previous national projects, including HibroM, ALENOS, and PamPIK, as well as international projects funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF), such as EDF-2021-INDY and EDF-2021-NOMAD. It is fully aligned with current European, NATO and national strategic priorities. Through the project, Slovenia will strengthen the competitiveness of domestic knowledge and industry, enhance national development capacities, and improve competencies in developing, testing and demonstrating advanced technological solutions for both civilian and defence applications.
