AVL-AST d.o.o. was founded in 1996 by the parent company AVL LIST GmbH. Company currently employing 103, university graduate engineers, masters and doctors of science in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics and mechatronics.

It consists of three business units, Engineering Services, Advanced Simulation Technologies and Instrumentation and Testing Systems. Main responsibilities are the conceptual and detailed analysis of different vehicle types (automotive, special purpose, aviation, maritime and rail) as well as the systems for the green energy production (electrolyser, fuel cell, integration with electric grid, PV, wind turbines and battery storage systems). These include heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system development, vehicle dynamics and drivability analysis, vehicle aerodynamics and under-hood flow analysis, controls development (HCU, ECU, FCCU, etc.), electrification components analysis (battery, e-motor, fuel cell, electrolyser, inverter, etc.), development of ICE’s combustion and exhaust aftertreatment systems, structural dynamics and NVH analysis of powertrain components, AD/ADAS systems safety functions development and calibration. Additionally, the customer services for Advanced Simulation Technologies and application support of the commercial software tools developed by the parent company are offered. The latter includes multi-disciplinary system simulation tool AVL CRUISE^TM M, multibody vehicle dynamics tool AVL VSM^TM, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation package for multi-disciplinary system components analysis AVL FIRE^TM M and PreonLab and, finally, a multibody structural dynamics simulation tool AVL EXCITE^TM.

Production program or services

Engineering services for virtual development and optimization of completely new products/solutions or upgrade of the existing ones upon customer requests and needs from the concept phase until start of production. The latter includes customer projects for outlined applications, methodologies projects, R&D projects, know-how transfer and trainings. Additionally, the customer services of Advanced Simulation Technologies and application support of AVL’s commercial software are offered.
