University of Ljubljana, Laboratory for refrigeration and district energy, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
Since: 1990
Our main research activities are modelling, conceptual design and optimization of different processes in thermal engineering and thermal management. Due to the intensive technological development in recent years, we have focused also on different activities in the field of micro heat transfer and fractal structures. In addition to conventional methods of heat transfer, we have recently been focusing on the field of thermal control circuits and elements, analogue to electronic circuits.
We model processes and results with verified measurements on laboratory models and on real systems. In addition to the research and development in the domain of conventional refrigeration processes and systems, we carried out numerous research projects in the area of district heating and cooling, heat pumps, household appliances, and energy management in industry.
The laboratory covers pedagogically the basic area of Heat and Mass transfer, Transport phenomena, Refrigeration, Heat pumps and Energy supply, Heat exchangers and Energy distribution systems.
